EGG FARMING

Farm Fresh Eggs

At Phonograph Farms, we have a variety of chickens that produce our fresh farm eggs. Our chickens are cage-free and free range, allowing them to be their natural selves. We enjoy providing a fresher alternative to store-bought eggs, as our eggs have a longer shelf life and hold more nutritional value. Whether you have a passion for baking or simply enjoy the taste of eggs, you will love our fresh farm eggs.

Care Tips for Farm Fresh Eggs

1.      Fresh eggs can be cleaned with a dry cloth or with warm water.

NOTE: Using a dry cloth whenever possible will help keep the bloom. A bloom (cuticle) is the egg’s natural external protection layer that protects it from bacteria.

2.      Fresh eggs can be stored two ways:

  • On the countertop at room temperature for up to 1 month after the eggs have been laid however most eat their eggs within 2 weeks of being laid as they taste fresher.

NOTE: Yes, the eggs are still safe to eat when left out at room temperature due to the protection of the egg bloom.

The other way to store your fresh eggs are in the fridge. If you need to clean your eggs with water, then the eggs must be stored in the fridge immediately since the egg bloom has been removed at this point.

Fresh eggs can be stored in any dish. We suggest leaving them in the eggs cartons to preserve the freshness.

Store Bought Eggs

Eggs that have been purchased in a supermarket are normally at least a month old before they even get to the store shelves. Their white eggs have been bleached and the brown eggs have been cleaned, which means the egg blooms have been stripped, thus requiring refrigeration to avoid bacterial contamination. Why settle for store bought eggs when you can have fresh ones?

We hope you enjoy your farm fresh eggs!
